We are a telecom operator and using PRTG for daily operations.
we currently have 2 setups and requirements for new installations keep coming.
our current setups are running with around 20,000 sensors and is starting to have performance issues.
we need to setup more than 5 installations.
what is your recommendation for hardware specs for this kind of environment?
will it be suitable to virtualize these installations?
appreciate your recommendation on what is the most suitable way to proceed with these huge installations as the site planner and hardware specs where not very useful.

Hello,
it is very hard to give general and exact specifications for hardware requirements of PRTG, because each PRTG installation is different then another, possibly even unique, due to the different "opinions" and philosophies of network and system admins using PRTG (that includes installations of 20,000 sensors of course), which relates in different scanning interval, number of sensors, the sensor types used, reports, maps, number of users working with PRTG, etc..
We strongly recommend to not use virtual systems with such large installations with 20,000 sensors and more. In such cases, please use dedicated physical hardware to run PRTG. In such large setups of PRTG slowdowns can happen on certain pages or with certain operations, that can be normal due to the large amount of objects PRTG has to handle.

For new installations of the same size, I would go with the same hardware, or of course more powerful hardware of course.
