We got about 300 Servers monitored in our Installation, all of em with the same type of Sensors (PING, SNMP CPU, SNMP HD, ....)

On about 10 Servers we got the Problem that abou every 2 days they dont collect any data from the CPU´s at these 10 Servers. The Sensors just says "No Such Name"

After deleting the CPU Sensors and recreating em it works again, for about 2 days.

Whats going wrong here?

Greetings

Is this with PRTG 7? If so, what precise version?

What's the scanning interval of the sensors in case? If you restart the services, do the sensors work again?

Our Version is 7.3.3.5634 Scanning Intervall is Standard (60 Seconds) After restarting the Service it still says "No Such Name"

It does not happen every day, so for instance Server 1 has now alrdy 3 days this error, Server 2 only since yesterday.

Windows PCs as well as other devices have the tendency to change OIDs after reboot.

We have already built-in functionalities to solve such issues, but it does not always work.

Please read

You could also use the free SNMP Agent from SNMP Informant. That one will not change the OID after a reboot of the server.

Is there no other possibility to resolve this issue? We do not want to use other SNMP Agents if possible. Cause if we need another Agent we have to install this on about 300 Servers to make sure no one get this issue.

Will this be working better with the PRTG 8?

It is already on the list, but it is not certain if we will be able to implement it in the first version8 release
