Hello,

I have SNMP RMON sensor on Cisco switch. It is possible to monitor "Received" and "Transmitted" traffic separately (in separate Channels)?

Article Comments

Hi MAA,

The SNMP RMON Sensor just measures "The total number of octets of data received on the network", so in- and out-going traffic is always summarized (see this article). If you want to seperate those channels you'll need to use the SNMP Traffic Sensor instead.

On Cisco switch RMON show only Received traffic (not summarized, not Transmitted)!

You're right. The transmitted value of the RMON sensor represents the outgoing, transmitted traffic from the interface's perspective. Which is the equivalent to the "received on the network" from the official RMON MIB.

The Cisco Switch most likely means the same "Received (on the network)". If you want to clarify this, please get in contact with Cisco.

Best regards
