Hi I'm about to deploy some remote probes, but before I can request a change in my company's firewall to open up port 23560 and port 80, I'll have to know if it's the remote probe or the core server that is the source, which initialises port 23560 and which one is the destination in this case.

Best Regards Lucas

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. The Remote Probe is the one initiating the connection (source) on an outgoing dynamic high port on its side, and this connection then targets the port 23560 (TCP) on the side of the PRTG Core Server (destination).

best regards.

Hi, thank you for the answer, but is it port 2350 or 23560? - just to be sure :)

By default it's 23560, but you can also change this. I apologize for the typo in my previous response.

Thank you,

Do I have to open the ports 23560 and 80 on both sides of the firewall? - Does the Core Server initiate port 23560 and 80 at any case?

Port 23560 needs to be open on the Core Side. Port 80 is not used for the Probe-Core-Connection.
