Our customer has an old PRTG HA cluster (2 nodes) which want to upgrade from 17.3.32.2309 to 19.2.5. It is currently running on Win 2008 R2. Would like to ask the following questions

a. Can in place upgrade be performed under current hardware ? b. Is the software upgrade process single pass from current to targerted PRTG version or one need to stop at a version in between first (e.g. two pass upgrade) ?

Since Win 2008R2 reached EOS, if one want to run that cluster on more current release of server OS. E.g 2012R2 or 2016. What is the best practise of this kind of PRTG and OS version upgrade ?

The last question is whether there will be planned PRTG update release in Sep or Oct 2019 ? Current published latest stable release 19.2.50.2842 (at https://www.paessler.com/prtg/history) was released in May 2019 ? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We're planning to release 19.x.51 this week. This one took indeed longer than anticipated, as we had a multitude of issues with the initial release. Regarding the migration to a newer Windows version, please check our Migration Guide. It's best practise to install PRTG on the new Server OS and then deactivate the old one, migrate configuration and monitoring database and then activate the new server. Upgrading before migrating is also recommended.
