Hi,
We want to monitor outgoing and incoming traffic / port based traffic / per user IP based traffic - on their ASA firewall , Cisco 2960 switches and Cisco Routers.
1)What is the Log-software they should use? Will PRTG be useful? 2)Do we need to have Netflow, or SNMP v1,v2,v3 enabled? 3)On which cisco devices will this work? 4)Is there any specific IOS requirement for all the above devices? 5)how to configure it on PRTG?
thanks in advance, regards, amit
That depends on the protocols they support. We have specific sensors for your hardware available, so PRTG should be useful to you :)
Please have a look at our KB article on monitoring Cisco devices: http://www.paessler.com/knowledgebase/en/topic/3733-frequent-questions-about-flow-netflow-sflow-packet-sniffing-traffic-monitoring-and-cisco
It'll give you a brief overview of the devices and their protocols.
And the different sensor manuals: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/available_sensor_types (especially the different flow and snmp sensors).
You'll find detailed information about configuring the sensors in their manual pages.
Let me know if you have any further questions! :)
