I have a CPU sensor on a device that has the following settings:

Scanning Interval60 seconds
When a Sensor Reports an ErrorSet sensor to Warning for 5 intervals, then set to "down".

But when i check the Live Data on the sensor when it reaches over the error limit (95%) it's set to "down" on the second interval, not the fifth as it should be.

Hello there,
thank you for your KB-Post.

Please refer to the hint about the When a Sensor Reports an Error setting:

When a sensor reports an error, PRTG can try to reach and check the corresponding device again within the next scanning interval before the sensor is shown as 'down'. This can avoid false alarms if your device has temporary issues only.

The following notes (in the manual) are also available:

  • Note: If a sensor has defined error limits for channels, this sensor will always be set to a Down status immediately, so no "wait" option will apply.
  • Note: If a channel uses lookup values, the sensor will always be set to a Down status immediately, so no "wait" options will apply.

What this means is: This option cannot be used to achieve what you're trying to achieve. Limits and lookups will always be evaluated on every scanning interval, this cannot be "postponed". The Set sensor to "warning" for XXX intervals, then set to "down": Show an error status only after six continuously failed requests setting only applies to internal sensor issues or when the device cannot be reached (timeout, connection reset and other errors to get the sensor's data).

Best Regards,
