Hi all

I just created a monitor for an additional synology DS212j, Firmware 5.2. I can monitor physical disk health and disk free, but when it comes to the synology system health, it says "No such instance (SNMP error # 223)".

Any Idea?

Hi Thomas,

Please use the SNMP Tester from your PRTG Host or Remote Probe an perform a walk over the OID

1.3.6.1.4.1.6574.1

Please forward the results, let's see why the sensor does not return a no such instance message.

Best regards

There you go

I tried multiple times. The only difference was, that I didn't get the error at the end all the time.

Hey Binarybubble,

The Walk is missing a required OID

1.3.6.1.4.1.6574.1.2.0

which represents the temperature. Could you please try to restart your Disk Station and see if it works afterwards? Maybe the SNMP component of the Synology device stumbled.

Done. Restarted and checked a few other things. I also read the MIB Manual from Synology.

Seems that this sensor (the synology one) is defective. If I walk it:

Hi,

We I just checked the OID of our Synology, and it appears to work with the

DSM Version 5.2-5592 Update 2

If this is a bug within version 5.2.1, maybe an update can fix this OID value.

Best regards

Hi Felix

The Firmware is already: DSM 5.2-5592 Update 2. But I am quite sure its the version DS212j which has maybe no temperature sensor or an other sensor missing. I have several other Synology NAS devices and they are all working, but are higher models.

usually you don't monitor such small synos, I just want to check with you why it doesnt respond to the health monitor. I dont think you have to investigate any further.

To close this. DS212j has no temperature sensor. In the systeminfo (ds212j) there is no temperature sensor. So the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.6574.1.2.0 is not present. Systemhealth cannot be queried. other DS have those sensors.

We have just updated this sensor so this temperature oid is optional. This change will now be validated by our QA department and then probably be part of release 16.x.25.
