I've configured Flexible NetFlow on a Cisco router running Cisco's IOS. The template I'm using includes for example the application name identified by the NBAR engine on the Cisco device. What I'm trying to achieve is to use this application name within PRTG instead of the protocol grouping PRTG performs.

I'm not sure how to configure the NetFlow sensor in PRTG to be able to use the application name included in the NetFlow exports. Is this possible?

Hi,
Flexible Netflow is not supported in PRTG. As PRTG is not a specialized Netflow Tool but has a more general approach Flexible Netflow has not been implemented. So it is not possible to read custom fields in an exported flow.

Is there a work-around for this? Can you define a flow record that would match the fields of an netflow original format?

Hi,
we have not tested this. So I cannot guarantee whether this will work or not. Sorry.
Best regards

This worked for me to get Flexible Netflow working with PRTG.
