When starting the control panel I get an error:

As for the error message that you're encountering:
This most likely indicates that PRTG's configuration file was somehow corrupted. Please refer to the following article to restore a previous backup of your PRTG Configuration (which is automatically updated on a daily basis by default).
Your PRTG's PRTG Core Server Log (1).log (Default: C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs (System\) may provide additional details to why the config was corrupted. But in such cases, don't hesitate to contact-us and we'll be glad to assist.
