I want to monitor the Internet uptime that is used on the Public LAN at all of my 18 remote sites. They all use Comcast cable for public internet and I have been using a ping sensor to ping the LAN IP of the Comcast router but that is not consistent.

I do have a UTM firewall between the service and maybe I could trap the status of that which goes to "checking" when the ISP drops service.

Suggestions????

Hello,

you could try monitoring a page like www.google.com from each location, that should show the internet availability quite well.

best regards.

Thanks for the reply. My monitoring server is at our HQ and I want to monitor remote sites. Is this still possible? And would I use just a HTTP sensor?

So, aside from testing it, if I use a HTTP sensor and apply it to the Comcast router, how do I know the HTTP sensor is using that link to access the internet?

If you place a remote probe in each of the remote sites and then check www.google.com with an HTTP-Sensor (or ping or port sensor) then you should see the internet availability in each remote site.
