Why can there be performance issues on the PRTG core server or the network when I configure PRTG to perform frequent auto-discoveries of my entire network?
Avoid frequent auto-discoveries
Depending on the configuration, an auto-discovery may scan your entire network and therefore affect performance. To optimize performance, minimize the number of scheduled auto-discoveries whenever possible. In particular, do not schedule an auto-discovery to run every hour. If possible, set the discovery schedules to Once and run auto-discovery manually when needed.
